How to Decorate with Textiles

These days, home decor is wonderfully versatile and fluid. There are traditional styles, of course, but I love to see a space with eccentric, unique pieces coming together to create a cozy home reflective of the people who live in it.

One way to add a touch of heirloom sophistication to your space is by displaying a woven piece! I have customers ask me all the time at markets how to display their new woven blanket or wall hanging or runner. With that in mind, I’ve compiled a few ideas for you to bookmark. Let’s go!

  1. Table runner.

This seems like a no-brainer, right? Simply toss it on your table and you’re good to go! However, there are lots of ways to style a table runner and make sure it’s showing off your space to its best potential. Try layering a vase of flowers on top, along with a bowl of fruit or nuts. Or, stack your favorite plant on it. Lay it at an angle, vertically or horizontally. Want to be different? You can even hang it on the wall!

2. Blanket.

Again, simple! Just layer your beautiful woven throw blanket over your favorite chair or on the leather couch. You can even layer it with other blankets for extra cozy texture, or spread it out on your bed for full display. Want to hang it on the wall? I won’t judge.

3. Wall hangings.

These make the perfect addition to any gallery wall. Simply hang up a variety of little framed photos or prints, words, and mirrors, and add a wall hanging to the mix for that perfect touch of textile beauty. Try dressing up a little girl’s room with one, or adding a warm glow to your bathroom with a woven hanging.
